Raiders, Chargers shared Los Angeles stadium approved for early special election

New, comments

Los Angeles stadium plans between the Raiders and Chargers took another step forward Wednesday as the signatures were approved which will put the project on the ballot for a special election. This means the process moves along more quickly.

Here are the details of the ballot approved ballot initiative per the Carson2gether press release:

Carson2tegther's football stadium initiative has qualified for the ballot in the City of Carson following completion of petition signature verification by the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk and his staff.

The Registrar-Recorder's office today notified Carson officials that a sufficient number of signatures had been obtained for the Carson2gether initiative to move forward. 8,059 verified registered voter signatures were required to qualify the measure for an early special election in Carson. Carson2gether obtained and submitted over 15,000 signatures.

Carson2gether supporters and proponents delivered more than 40 boxes of signed petitions for the proposed Carson football stadium project to Carson's City Clerk on Wednesday, March 25, capping off a festive march to Carson City Hall.

The proposed football stadium project petition drive began on March 13. The San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders organizations support the proposed stadium project.

The Raiders and Chargers are both continuing their efforts to get stadium deals done in Oakland and San Diego respectively amid their teaming up on the project plans in Carson.
