Indiana wide receiver Shane Wynn is scheduled to visit the Raiders on Thursday according to Aaron Wilson. Wynn is one of the fastest players in the 2015 NFL Draft as he ran the 40-Yard Dash in 4.23 seconds at Indiana's Pro Day. He also recorded a 36" vertical jump and a 10-foot broad jump.
But while he is one of the quickest players available, he is also one of the smallest listed at 5'6", 167 lbs.
As a senior, Wynn was named honorable-mention All-Big Ten Conference as he led the team with 56 catches for 708 yards and three touchdowns. Those numbers are more impressive than they seem as starting quarterback Nate Sudfeld suffered a season-ending injury early into the season.
Wynn was a four-year starter at Indiana as a wide receiver, kick returner, and punt returner. Because of his small frame, Wynn will likely have to play the slot in the NFL. Much of his value will come as a returner as he finished his career with 1,854 kick return yards.
After missing out on the wide receiver market in free agency, the position is now the Raiders biggest need. And with T.J. Carrie projected to be a starting cornerback, the Raiders may be looking for someone else to return kickoffs and punts. Wynn would be able to do both while also giving the Raiders speed to use in the slot. Wynn is currently projected as a late-round pick.
