2015 NFL Draft Results: Raiders select Florida St DE Mario Edwards, Jr. at 35th overall

With the 35th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft the Raiders have selected Florida St DE Mario Edwards, Jr. He played over 300lbs in college but has slimmed down to 279lbs at a height of 6'3 now so it is an interesting selection. He is a player capable of both DT and DE so he is a versatile linemen that can be moved around across the line, but you don't really know what weight he will end up wanting to play at.

The extreme weight loss since the season ended for Mario Edwards shows that he has been working his butt off in the pre-draft process, both literally and figuratively. He has long arms and a big frame, though he hasn't been a proven pass rusher which is really what the Raiders were suppose to be going after in this draft. They are hoping that his previous ability shown is just the tip of the iceberg.

He is an impressive athlete but he does not come without his question marks. This is a bit of a reach pick and a definite surprising one, but the Raiders are banking on his potential. His draft grade was all over the place from some projecting him to be a 1st round pick to projecting him as a 3rd or 4th round pick.

Here is his official highlight video for some more details on the Raiders 2nd round pick, Mario Edwards, Jr.
