Wednesday the Raiders made the signing of cornerback Chimdi Chekwa official. He returns to the team after having been allowed to leave as a free agent. He was signed by the Patriots who cut him this weekend.

With his return, the team cut former Louisiana Tech DB Terrell Pinson who they made one of 14 priority undrafted free agent signings following the draft earlier this month. Pinson attended the team's rookie minicamp but was not in attendance for the team's first OTA Tuesday. He was the only one without a readily available reason. Afterward Jack Del Rio said they had full attendance which suggests Pinson had already been notified at that time he had been waived.

As for Chekwa, he has spent all four seasons of his NFL career in Oakland as the team's 2011 fourth round pick out of Ohio State. He started two games at cornerback last season which is half of his career total. Mostly he plays special teams, but was pressed into starting duties due to injury.
