In corresponding moves, the team has released wide receiver Austin Hill and cornerback Travell Dixon who had been signed as undrafted free agents earlier this month.
Miller was waived last month by the Carolina Panthers after having spent much of last season on their practice squad before being called up to the active roster late last season. He was originally signed by the Seahawks in 2014 as an undrafted free agent out of University of Texas-El Paso where he started 30 games over three seasons totaling 120 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and 12 sacks.
Williams III was a priority free agent signing by the Raiders out of Delaware State following the draft earlier this month. He was cut to make room for Austin Hill, and now the Raiders swap back. In four seasons at Delaware State, Williams III saw action in 40 games and totaled 126 career receptions for 1,612 yards and 11 touchdowns.
As for Austin Hill, he was once very highly regarded for the University of Arizona. Many saw him as a first round product following his sophomore campaign there. But he suffered a serious knee injury causing his production to wain and eventually he went undrafted. He was set to sign with the Seahawks after the draft but failed his physical. One would have to assume his release from the Raiders had something to do with that as well.
