Raiders Countdown to Kickoff: 57: Who wore it best, who's wearing it now

As training camp inches closer and closer, we continue our countdown to the Raiders 2015 season opener. With 57 days left we look at the top performer to wear that number as well as the player who is donning it now.

Who wore it best: LB Jerry Robinson (1985-91)

The one-time Pro Bowl linebacker spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Eagles. He joined the Raiders in 1985 where he would spent the final 7 years of his career. In the five seasons from 1986-90 he was an everyday starter, first at outside linebacker and then inside linebacker. In total he appeared in 101 games with 72 starts including playoff games.

Who's wearing it now: LB  Ray Ray Armstrong

The former undrafted free agent spent the first season of his career with the Rams. Four games into his second season with the team, head coach Jeff Fisher was not happy with his special teams penalties and waived him. The Raiders being thin at linebacker, claimed him off waivers. He would play mostly on special teams last season, but make three starts due to injuries the Raiders suffered at the linebacker position.

This offseason the coaching staff has been raving about how well he has played while running with the first team in the absence of Sio Moore who has been recovering from offseason hip surgery. We'll see if that's just lip service soon enough. If Armstrong really is defying the coaches' expectations of him, he would add to an already strong and deep linebacking corps in Oakland.
