The days have been rolling fast and furious towards the 2015 NFL season, today being just 30 days from the season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals on September 13th. Even better, tonight also gives us the first of 4 preseason games as well! Before we get to see the first Jack Del Rio led Raiders team hit the field, lets take a look at the best Raider to ever wear the number 30 and see who wears it now.

Who wore it best: RB Mark Van Eeghen (1974-1981)

There have only been 6 players to wear the number 30 for the Oakland Raiders, but the best of them was 2-time Super Bowl champion running back Mark Van Eeghen. The second leading rusher in Raiders history with 5,907 yards under his belt is the easy choice to make, sorry Stuart Schweigert fans!

Van Eeghen came to the Raiders by way of Colgate College as the 3rd round pick in 1974, undoubtedly a successful pick by the great Al Davis. He was the leading rusher in the 1980 Super Bowl victory for the Raiders over the Eagles with 19 carries for 80 yards, and he was also a big part of the 1976 Super Bowl win over the Vikings where he had 18 carries for 73 yards. For those of you that were lucky enough to witness those two championship teams I am sure that you remember Mark Van Eeghen fondly.

Who wears it now: CB SaQwan Edwards

SaQwan Edwards isn't one of the well known Raiders on the team, he is an Undrafted Rookie Free Agent signing out of New Mexico  that will be battling for a roster spot for Oakland. Ironically, today is actually a great day to highlight Edwards because of the first preseason game being tonight.

This is exactly the time an UDFA needs to make an impact to get them noticed if they want to make the team so maybe SaQwan Edwards will give us another reason to talk about him today. There might not be a #30 on the field when the regular season comes if Edwards doesn't show up big in the preseason, but there definitely will be one out there tonight anyway.
