Raiders Countdown to Kickoff: 18: Who wore it best, who's wearing it now

If you thought the number 19 wasn't worn by a lot of people, how about number 18? I has been worn by just five players in Raiders history. One of those players is currently on the team. But even with so few to choose from, there is a player worth recognition.

Who wore it best: K Jeff Jaeger (1989-95)

A former third round pick by the Browns, he spent just one season in Cleveland. He joined the Raiders in his second season and spent seven seasons as the Raiders' kicker and made All Pro in 1991. In total he made 152 of 204 field goal in the regular season and went 6 for 7 in five playoffs games (remember those?). His 667 points is fourth most in franchise history. He finished his career with four seasons in Chicago.

Who's wearing it now: WR  Andre Holmes

The 6-5, 208-pound receiver spent the first two seasons of his career with the Cowboys, catching just two passes in that time. He was waived prior to the 2013 season and the Raiders claimed him in this hopes he could provide the big jump ball target they lacked. Showing potential as a rookie, he appeared in ten games and started four. His big breakout game came against his former team, catching 7 passes for 136 yards. He finished that season with 25 catches for 431 yards and 1 touchdown.

The Raiders had high hopes for him heading into last season and his number did go up (47 catches for 693 yards and 4 touchdowns in 13 starts), and he was the team's leading receiver, though he didn't take quite the leap in dependability as they had hoped. This year he has fallen to fourth on the depth chart behind Michael Crabtree, Amari Cooper, and Kenbrell Thompkins. Holmes recently broke his hand in practice and is likely to miss the first couple games of the season.
