In the first surprising cut by the Raiders, Kenbrell Thompkins has been waived according to multiple reports including Pro Football Talk.

The surprise comes mainly because Thompkins had worked with the second team offense through most of camp and had played well at times in preseason as well, catching 4 passes for 27 yards over three games.
Thompkins' cut could open the door for Seth Roberts to make the squad. Roberts is a former undrafted free agent who spent last season on the Raiders' practice squad. He was making a strong push in camp and was the team's second leading receiver in the preseason with 8 catches for 133 yards.
Roberts was a bubble/fringe receiver on the roster. The game Sunday against the Cardinals may have clinched Roberts' spot over Thompkins.
In Sunday's game, Roberts was second on the team in receiving with three catches for 52 yards including a 20-yard catch which ended with him laying the boom on the defensive back trying to tackle him. Earlier in the game, Thompkins dropped a high pass from Carr and finished with one catch on seven targets.
