In Sunday's game, the Raiders lost both of their starting safeties to injuries. Nate Allen left early with a knee injury and didn't return. Later in the game, Charles Woodson left with a shoulder injury. Results on the extent of their injuries have not been revealed as of yet, although the prognosis of both being healthy is not good.
Earlier today Jack Del Rio didn't sound too good about Nate Allen's chances of returning anytime soon, saying only "He's got a knee [injury] and we feel like he may have a chance to return."
In light of this, the most logical choice for the Raiders to add to the roster is safety Taylor Mays who joined the team in preseason and played in two preseason games. Now it would appear that is indeed the case, according to a report from CSN Bay Area.
Mays played extensively in the Raiders' preseason finale in Seattle and finished fourth on the team with 4 combined tackles (3 solo) and held his own in coverage, nearly coming up with an interception. He was released by the Raiders in the final round of cuts.
