Raiders snap counts vs Browns: Ray Ray Armstrong being phased out

While the Raiders celebrate Ray Ray Armstrong having the team's first sack of the season against the Browns on Sunday, they are also finding more and more reasons to not have him on the field.

After being the talk of the coaching staff in the offseason, Armstrong was named a starter in the season opener. In that game, he played 67 snaps on defense, missing just one snap.

Week two against the Ravens, Armstrong was once again the starter, but it didn't mean much as he saw just 26 snaps in the game (33%). After that game, the Raiders had given up the most yards (889) in the league and the second most points (66).

Week three last Sunday against the Browns, he was not only no longer a starter, but saw just 8 snaps on defense. It's clear the luster has worn off and in an attempt to find the right combination of players on defense, Armstrong is being phased out of the defense.
