Raiders RB Latavius Murray up for NFL weekly award

New, comments
Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

For the second week in a row, there's a Raiders player who is up for a weekly award. Last week Derek Carr and Amari Cooper were up for awards, with Carr taking home the Clutch Player of the Week award. This week it's Latavius Murray who is up for the FedEx ground player of the week.

Murray was finally given the carries of a workhorse back this Sunday against the Browns. He carried the ball 26 times for 139 yards (5.3 ypc) and a touchdown to help the Raiders win in Cleveland.

He will have some tough competition for the award. The other Ground players are Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman who rushed for 141 yards on 30 carries (4.7 avg.) and three touchdowns in a 39-28 win over the Cowboys and  Vikings' Adrian Peterson who rushed for 126 yards on 20 carries (6.3 avg.) and two touchdowns in a blowout 31-14 win win over the Chargers.

Vote for your choice here.

Voting goes through Thursday at 3 p.m. ET. FedEx and the NFL will announce the winners every Thursday afternoon and award a $2,000 donation in each player's name to their teams' local area chapters of the American Red Cross to assist with disaster relief and preparedness.
