Raiders roster cuts: RB Michael Dyer, TE Brian Leonhardt reportedly cut

The roster cuts are due today and there are a couple players who are said to be among them. Christian Ponder was reported yesterday to be released and today ESPN is reporting Brian Leonhardt and Michael Dyer will both be among those to be cut.

Leonhardt was a 2013 undrafted free agent tight end out of Bemidji State. After a season on the practice squad, Leonhardt made the team as a blocking tight end last year. With the addition of Lee Smith and the drafting of Clive Walford, Leonhardt was the odd man out.

Dyer joined the Raiders this offseason as an undrafted free agent out of Louisville. The 5-9 running back was once a National Championship hero at Auburn who played at several other schools since then. He looked good in training camp and showed some promise in preseason. I have the team placing him on the practice squad in my 53-man roster projection.
