Sean Smith leaves Raiders week 8 game vs Buccaneers with shoulder injury

New, comments

Sean Smith leaves the week 8 game against the Buccaneers with a shoulder injury.

Just two plays into the Raiders week 8 game against the Buccaneers, they may have suffered a tremendous loss. Sean Smith defended a pass to Buccaneers’ wide receiver Cecil Shorts and Shorts landed on his arm on the way to the ground.

Smith stayed on the turf wincing in pain, holding his left shoulder. He soon left the field and headed to the locker room, questionable to return. He was later rule out and didn’t return.

He was replaced by DJ Hayden on the outside, with TJ Carrie entering the game as the nickel.

It was Hayden who gave up the touchdown pass from Jameis Winston to Russell Shepard on the first play of the second quarter that gave the Buccaneers a 10-0 lead.

This is a big loss for the Raiders, especially if Smith is out for an extended period of time. The team’s top defensive free agent acquisition this offseason, Smith is tied for the team lead with 2 interceptions on the season.

This situation will be monitored.
