Just about every week, one of the Raiders running backs makes a big play. And you never really know which of them it's going to be. Week 8 against the Buccaneers they all got in on the act.
First up it was Jalen Richard who took off for a 20-yard run in the second quarter. On the next drive it was Jamize Olawale who caught a pass up the right sideline and took off for 68 yards. The very next drive after that, DeAndre Washington broke through for a 28-yard run.
The only running back left who hadn't had a big play was starter Latavius Murray. It took him until the second series of overtime, but he finally got his big run, shooting through for a 19-yard gain.
Murray would lead all running backs in snaps, but not by much. Out of a total of 94 offensive snaps (!), Murray saw 36 snaps (38%). Next was Washington with 28 snaps (30%)and then Olawale with 24 (26%), and finally Richard with 17 (18%).
As far as carries are concerned, Murray's 11 carries and 16 touches equaled the combined totals of the other three. But last week in Jacksonville he had 18 carries, which was twice as much as the other three running backs combined. So this week they were back to divvying up the workload and it served them well, averaging 5.2 yards per carry as a unit.
