Khalil Mack wins AFC Defensive Player of the Week

New, comments

Firmly in the realm of those who are deserving of the honor bestowed upon them is one Khalil Mack for AFC Defensive Player of the Week. He earned it for his performance in the Raiders week 9 win over the Denver Broncos.

This coming a week after teammate and fellow 2014 draft classmate Derek Carr was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his week 8 performance against the Buccaneers. A game in which Mack also played fantastic.

Mack took home the honor with perhaps an even better performance than he had the week before, which is saying a lot. He sacked Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian twice, and one of those times stripping him of the ball and then recovering the fumble. He added a pass defended, a tackle for loss, and 3 combined tackles.

He was a major factor in the Raiders dominating win over the Broncos in a crucial win to take sole possession of the AFC West.
