Just in time to face the Colts Saturday, the Raiders will get back a key piece to their late season successes in 2015. Mario Edwards Jr has been activated. Not only does he offer some much needed interior pass rush, but he is also a stout run defender.
Here’s a look at some of his run stops in 2015 as compiled by Goro Burroughs who dubs him the Run D Terminator.
The Colts deploy veteran running back, Frank Gore, whose long and successful NFL career appears to be in its twilight at the age of 33.
Last season, he fell shy of 1000 yards for the first time in his career when playing an entire season. He sits 109 yards away this season, averaging just 3.7 yards per carry.
The Raiders have one of the worst run defenses in the league, giving up 4.6 yards per carry. Edwards’ return will help in that area.
