DeAndre Washington’s breakout game has him nominated for Rookie of the Week

New, comments

I think the folks who put together these award nominations each week are getting the idea that if they add a Raiders player, the fans will turn out in droves to vote. After several Raiders players being up for the other voted upon awards each week, especially Clutch Player of the Week which a Raiders player has won 7 times this season, they get their first Pepsi Rookie of the Week nomination.

DeAndre Washington had a breakout game against the Colts in week 16, running for 99 yards on 12 carries (8.25 yards per carry) and two touchdowns. Both touchdowns were from 22 yards out, with the first one being the first of his NFL career. He added an 18-yard catch as well for 117 yards from scrimmage.

Prior to this game, Washington’s season high rushing yards was 57 yards and he’d even been a healthy scratch for two games this season.
