Today Jack Del Rio announced that Mario Edwards Jr will return to practice today. The second year defensive end has been on injured reserve all this season through 12 games with a hip injury he suffered in preseason.
“He is going to return to practice and so we’ll begin that window where we get him up to speed. But he will be out there today,” said Del Rio.
From the sounds of it, he will not be able to play in the game Thursday when the Raiders face the Chiefs in Kansas City.
Initially he was eligible to return to practice after week six, giving him two weeks to practice before being placed on the active roster. The team has three weeks to put him on the active roster. With that timetable in mind, he should be available for the final couple games and the playoffs.
