Combine Workouts Open Thread Day 4: Defensive Backs

New, comments

Now that the rest of the positional groups are out of the way, cornerbacks aand safeties will take their turn at the NFL Combine.

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Greetings Raider fans! The final day of the NFL Combine is upon us, and with it the main event- the defensive backs. This is the positional group the Raiders are likely to take the hardest look at, and barring a major secondary boost at multiple positions in free agency they will be taking one or more defensive backs early in the draft.

Cornerbacks to watch include Florida's Vernon Hargreaves III, Clemson's Mackenzie Alexander, Virginia Tech's Kendall Fuller and LSU's Rashard Robinson. Fuller and Robinson are seen as a notch below the other two, but standout performances today could change that perception.

Notable safeties working out today are Florida State's Jalen Ramsey (who can also play corner), Clemson's Jayron Kearse and West Virginia's Karl Joseph. Also look for Duke's Jeremy Cash to make an impact. He is a very physical player and showing off solid coverage ability and physical attributes could move him up draft boards. He will need to show he has recovered from the wrist surgery that ended his senior campaign.
