2016 NFL Scouting Combine results: Jalen Ramsey skies, fastest defensive back class in decade?

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The final on field workouts happened today at the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine. It was the defensive backs' turn to impress, and impress they did. The top five 40 times among the DB's all landed in the top six over the past five years and the top ten over the past eight years. No class in that time had as many times in the top ten as the 2016 class. Only the class of 2008 had more prospects top 40 times. That class was led by Tyvon Branch's 4.31 40.

Arguably, the most impressive performance didn't come in the 40, but the vertical and broad jump where Jalen Ramsey tied for a combine best 41.5 vertical jump and an 11'3" broad jump. He tied with Cal running back Daniel Lasco in both events.

Over the past decade, only Byron Jones had a longer Broad Jump (12'3") among defensive backs and Ramsey's 41.5 vertical is top five in the past ten years.
