Super Bowl 50 game time open thread

Game. On. Super Bowl 50 will be kicking off at Levi's Stadium shortly (3:30 pm Pacific) between the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers. There will be a bunch of festivities up first. It is the Super Bowl after all. Even more so, it's the big 5-0 so they're gonna milk it for all it's worth.

These two were certainly seeded properly. They were the two top seeds in their respective conferences. This is also the first time ever both Super Bowl teams started a quarterback picked number one overall. Though they is nearly an entire NFL career between them. Peyton Manning was the top overall pick in 1998 and Cam Newton was drafted some 14 years later making him 12 years old when Peyton entered the league. Yet here they are.

As much as we like to talk about the quarterbacks, these two teams' success is built on the strength of their defenses. The Broncos led the league in sacks and the Panthers led the league in interceptions.

Even with that Broncos D, they were barely skimming by in the regular season due to their lackluster offense. Peyton returned from injury for the playoffs and did enough to take out the Patriots to get here. Having home field in the AFC Championship helped greatly there. Cuz, you know if it were in New England, there would be some shady Patriot games going on off the field to miraculously help the Patriots come out victorious.

Enjoy the game and the festivities, everyone.
