Raiders continue attempts to pry Erin Henderson from Jets

Initial reports of Raiders interest in Jets free agent linebacker Erin Henderson seemed very preliminary. Like a phone call inquiry, which if every team is bound to make a lot of, but not necessary get past that stage. But as we are now into the third day of free agency, the Raiders are reportedly the only team still interested in Henderson other than the Jets themselves according to Connor Hughes of the New York Daily News.

You may remember Henderson was once a pretty good NFL linebacker. Then promptly forgot all about him because he fell off the map.

Henderson spent the first six season of his career in Minnesota. The final three seasons of which, he was a regular starting inside linebacker. But then just after the season he was arrested twice for DUI's and was released. After his release, he was arrested for possession of marijuana and later pled guilty to DWI and was sentenced to two years probation.

That kind of string of events can make a person do some soul searching. To do that, Henderson was out of football for the entire 2014 season, resurfacing to sign with the Jets prior to last season.

Though he didn't start any games for the Jets, he appears in all 16 contests and had a respectable 31 tackles (23 solo) in a reserve role. The Jets would like to have him back, but the Raiders have a need at inside linebacker they think this 29-year-old former starting middle linebacker can fill.

The Raiders must not be making him a bombshell offer or it would be taking this long for him to make his decision.
