Starter: Derek Carr
Depth: Matt McGloin, Garret Gilbert
Returning as the starter for the third straight season is Derek Carr. Behind him yet again is Matt McGloin who the team retained with a second round restricted free agent tender. Gilbert was signed to a reserve futures contract after the season.
Condition: Strong
With two years under his best as the Raiders starter, big things are expected of Derek Carr in his third season. He showed potential as a rookie and great improvement last season, making the Pro Bowl as an alternate. He is widely regarded as one of the better quarterbacks in the league with room for growth.
McGloin started the latter half of his rookie season in 2013 and showed a lot of grit. He has had that grit put to the test in each of his three seasons with the team and has prevailed to beat out all those who the team has signed to try and loosen his grip on the primary backup job in Oakland.
Gilbert is a former sixth round pick by the Rams. He didn't play last season and is expected to compete for the final quarterback spot on the roster, should the team.
Carr and McGloin are as solid a starter and backup as you'll find in the NFL.
