Continuing their due diligence, the Raiders stay on defense, hosting Florida defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard according to NFL Network's Rand Getlin. This after previous reports had them hosting several outside linebackers.
Bullard is a 6-3, 285-pounder who translates as a 3-4 defensive end. He finished with 12.0 sacks and 33.5 tackles for loss in four seasons with the Gators. He compares favorably to Raiders 2015 second round pick Mario Edwards Jr. who was over 300 pounds in college but slimmed down to around 285 pounds in his first season with the Raiders. Bullard too is projected as a round two pick.
Edwards' future is uncertain with a neck injury, but even if he turns out to be just fine, the Raiders could use another big, versatile defensive lineman who can line up at either DE in the 3-4 or 3-tech DT in the 4-3. The Raiders played both last season and figure to continue to add scheme versatile defenders to mix and match.
