With Peyton Manning retiring, the Broncos really hoped they could hold onto Brock Osweiler to keep some sense of continuity after their Super Bowl season. That will not happen now because the Texans stepped in and stole him away from them according to a report by ESPN's Rand Getlin.
Osweiler stepped up for the Broncos last season, starting seven games in place of the injured Manning. He helped the Broncos keep their top seed heading into the playoffs with a 5-2 record.
One of those two losses was against the Raiders in which Khalil Mack destroyed him for 5.0 sacks and a safety, but outside of that, Osweiler looked to be the heir apparent to Manning in Denver.
The rest of the QB market was waiting on what Osweiler did. Now that he has made his decision, things should pick up quickly. Most notably, it could be the Broncos making a trade to acquire 49ers malcontent Colin Kaepernick in a trade. Another quarterback the Raiders rattled last time they played each other.
Other options include Robert Griffin III and Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Fun, fun, fun!
