NFL Draft 2016: With their sixth round pick, Oakland Raiders select LB Cory James

New, comments

The Raiders have taken Colorado State linebacker Cory James in Round 6 of the NFL Draft.

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

With their sixth round selection at Pick #194, the Raiders have picked Cory James, a linebacker from Colorado State. He has played off the edge in his career but switched to MLB in 2015. He is a fast and consistent playmaker with good size and ability to plug the middle against the rush.

While James is relatively unknown having played in the Mountain West, he is adept at rushing the passer from the middle and the outside. He has good awareness in space and finds the ballcarrier in traffic. He is an above-average athlete with the skills needed to keep up with NFL backs and receivers. He seems like the type of player Ken Norton Jr. could mold into a great system linebacker.
