Raiders would be incredibly lucky to have Mel Kiper mock 4.0 come true

The hair has come out with his latest mock draft and the way it shakes would probably make the Raiders pretty happy. Kiper has the Raiders taking Florida cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III, who, along with Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey are the only two surefire top of the draft defensive backs in this class.

Said Kiper of this selection:

"The Raiders have done a lot of work in free agency to address the defensive side of the ball, but they need help at cornerback and could be tickled to find the best pure corner in the draft at this spot. Hargreaves lacks some measurables, but the tape doesn't lie."

In previous mock drafts, Kiper has had the Raiders taking Ohio State cornerback Eli Apple, so clearly he figures the Raiders will simply take the best cornerback on the board regardless of who it is.

I disagree with that idea, but at this spot Hargreaves would be more than the best cornerback on the board, he may be the best player available period.

Kiper is currently the only one in our mock draft database that has Hargreaves going to the Raiders. Mostly because all the others have Hargreaves gone before the 14th pick.

What a 1-2-3 punch David Amerson, Sean Smith, and Vernon Hargreaves III could be in the secondary.
