Friday, we completed our "What condition the position is in pre-draft" series in which I gave each position a condition ranging between Strong, Stable, Touch and go, Serious, and Critical. With the results I was able to put together eight positions - one for each pick the Raiders have in this year's draft -- in order of need which will require the most attention in the upcoming draft.
Must Reads
1. Safety
Starters: Reggie Nelson, Nate Allen
Depth: Tevin McDonald, Dewey McDonald, Brynden Trawick, Chris Hackett
Condition: Serious
Fan vote: 40% Serious
Summary: Nelson signing was crucial, but it doesn't change much with regard to the need in the draft.
2. Offensive tackle
Starters: Donald Penn, Menelik Watson
Depth: Austin Howard, Matt McCants
Condition: Serious
Fan vote: 45% Touch and go
Summary: Penn was a late re-sign at 33 years old and Watson hasn't been able to stay healthy.

3. Running back
Starter: Latavius Murray
Depth: Roy Helu Jr, Taiwan Jones, George Atkinson III
Condition: Touch and go
Fan vote: 55% Touch and go
Summary: Murray is the workhorse, but adding a complementary back is in the plans.
4. Inside linebacker
Starter: Malcolm Smith
Depth: Ben Heeney, John Lotulelei
Condition: Touch and go
Fan vote: 47% Touch and go
Summary: Smith filled in nicely last season with Heeney showing a lot of potential. Competition is needed.

5. Defensive end
Starters: Mario Edwards Jr, Denico Autry
Depth: Shelby Harris
Condition: Touch and go
Fan vote: 37% Stable, 36% Touch and go
Summary: The status of Edwards' neck is still unknown. Autry played well at times last season, but a third defensive end to the mix is needed to put the coaches minds at ease.
6. Cornerback
Starters: David Amerson, Sean Smith
Depth: TJ Carrie, Neiko Thorpe, DJ Hayden, Keith McGill, Dexter McDonald, SaQwan Edwards
Condition: Touch and go
Fan vote: 52% Stable, 34% Touch and go
Summary: Amerson and Smith give the Raiders a good looking starting duo with Carrie at the nickel. After that...

7. Defensive tackle
Starters: Dan Williams, Justin Ellis
Depth: Stacy McGee, Leon Orr
Condition: Touch and go
Fan vote: 53% Stable, 36% Touch and go
Summary: Williams had a great season last year, but he belongs at nose tackle so a 3-tech DT is needed.
8. Wide receiver
Starters: Amari Cooper, Michael Crabtree
Depth: Seth Roberts, Andre Holmes, Andre Debose
Condition: Stable
Fan vote: 51% Stable
Summary: Cooper and Crabtree are a potent combo and Roberts showed himself to be a capable third option. Perhaps a speedy slot receiver would be in order.
