This past weekend the Raiders held their rookie minicamp. After which they had officially signed five players who were invited to that camp on a tryout basis. Those players are as follows:
Chris Edwards, DB, Idaho
Joe Hansley, WR, Colorado State
Branden Jackson, DL, Texas Tech
Jalen Richard, RB, Southern Miss
Torian White, OL, Hampton
With just two roster spots available, the team needed to cut three players. Those players were third year DE Shelby Harris, second year safety Tevin McDonald, and cornerback Tony McRae who was signed last week as an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina State.
Here are the short bios on the three additions per Oakland Raiders press release:
Edwards: Played two years at Idaho after transferring from Butte College in Oroville, Ca. ...Appeared in 18 games with 12 starts, totaling 76 tackles (60 solo), three INTs, three passes defensed, one sack, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
Hansley: Played four years at Colorado State, seeing action in 50 games...Totaled 136 receptions for 1,842 yards (13.5 avg.) and 12 TDs...Added 43 punt returns for 547 yards and three TDs over his career.
Jackson: Played four years at Texas Tech, appearing in 51 games with 38 starts...Totaled 138 tackles (97 solo), 11 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one pass defensed.
Richard: Played four years at Southern Mississippi, seeing action in 41 games...Totaled 396 carries for 2,076 yards (5.2 avg.) and 19 TDs...Added 83 receptions for 675 yards (8.1 avg.) and five TDs as a receiver.
White: Played two years at Hampton after transferring from UCLA...Saw action in eight games as a junior for the Pirates...Started 12 games at left tackle for the Bruins in 2012.
