With the addition of free agent guard Kelechi Osemele, there was some speculation that Gabe Jackson would be switching to the right guard spot from left guard where he played for the past two seasons. With the team's first OTA practice, I can confirm that move has been made.
The first team offensive line for the first OTA practice from left to right looked like this:
Must Reads
LT Donald Penn
LG Kelechi Osemele
C Rodney Hudson
RG Gabe Jackson
RT Menelik Watson
Osemele was the team's biggest free agent acquisition this offseason. He had spent the first four seasons of his career with the Baltimore Ravens, the last three as the team's everyday starting left guard. He also played some left tackle late last season with the injury to Eugene Monroe.
The Raiders gave him big money, averaging $11.7 million over five years to be a key piece of the team's offensive line.
Neither Jackson nor Osemele have ever played the right guard position, but with that kind of investment in Osemele, it's best to put him where he has proven success.
