This week the Raiders have been releasing shots from their closed veteran offseason workouts. Among those in attendance is Mario Edwards Jr, who was pictured working around a blocking dummy with his teammates Tuesday. Again on Wednesday there were several more shots of him appearing to be in full participation. The above picture as well as the one below, again of him working with a blocking dummy.
While we talk about Edwards being in attendance, it's important to note who is was NOT seen in any of the shots. Among the notable absences from the gallery were Neiron Ball, Austin Howard, Neiko Thorpe, Sebastian Janikowski, Reggie Nelson, and Dan Williams.
Ball suffered a knee injury last season, landing him on injured reserve. A week later, on December 19, Howard was also lost to a knee injury and placed on injured reserve. Thorpe was signed to an RFA tender this offseason. The reason for his absence is not known.
Others injured players who were absent as expected were Roy Helu Jr (hips), and Clive Walford (knee). Janikowski, Nelson, and Williams are all veterans and their absence is not necessarily expected for these workouts. TJ Carrie and Malcolm Smith were also not pictured at workouts, but they were part of the Raiders contingent in Mexico for day three of the draft.
