The Raiders are starting from the bottom and working up it would seem. They have announced they have signed their first player from their 2016 draft class and it's their final pick, offensive lineman Vadal Alexander out of LSU.
The 6-5, 326-pounder was selected 234th overall by the Raiders. Projected by several draft analysts as a day two pick, he was considered a steal by many at that position in the draft. Alexander was a four-year starter on the offensive line for the Tigers, appearing in 50 games with 46 starts (25 at left guard and 21 at right tackle).
As a senior lasts season, he earned first-team All-SEC honors from the conference coaches and Associated Press as well as second-team All-American honors from Walter Camp, Sporting News and Sports Illustrated. You see that kind of value on the board midway through the seventh round, you take him.
He will wear number 74 for the Raiders, which was his number at LSU.
In total, the Raiders had seven selections, one in each round of the draft.
