What Raiders player from '70s would you add to today's roster?

New, comments

The 1970s were a unique time in America. Disco ruled the nightclubs and the Raiders were the most feared team in professional sports.

During the 1970s, the Raiders were a force to be reckoned with. Under the brilliant and often exuberant coaching of John Madden, Oakland never had a losing season. There was a feeling, and a reality, throughout the decade that no matter what the score, if there were ticks remaining on the clock, the Raiders could find a way to win.

While the greatness of the current team resides in the future, which legend of the '70s would you add to the current roster? The parameters are simple. The player you select had to play in at least one regular season game from 1970 to 1979. Also, indicate which player at the same or equivalent position you would release to make room on the current 53-man roster?

We'll be posting the results and some of your reasons why next week. Please articulate your selections and reasoning in the comments below.
