This evening at the Raiders held their Alumni gala in Napa following their first day of training camp. On hand along with Raiders legends and Mark Davis took the opportunity to announce he had given a 4-year extension to General Manager Reggie McKenzie that would keep him as GM until 2020.
I just introduced #Raiders owner Mark Davis in Napa as he extended Reggie McKenzie's 4 years on his existing contract. Huge moment! #NFL

"Reggie's contract was up at the end of this year, and we felt was time to reward him for the job that he has done," said Mark Davis via the Raiders official website.
It's quite a turn of events for McKenzie who as recent as a year ago was considered on the hot seat after going 11-37 over his first three seasons on the job. Since then, his last two draft classes have played well, the team improved to 7-9 last season, and free agents have begun seeing Oakland as an attractive destination.
Those free agent contracts have also been frontloaded due to the cap space they have had the past couple offseasons, which has allowed for little dead money down the road.
