Just what you don't want in the preseason is injuries. In the first quarter against the Cardinals, defensive end Mario Edwards went down with an apparent leg injury of some kind. He was helped off the field by a trainer and teammates before being taken to the locker room via cart.
To lose Edwards would be very bad news. They lost him late last season to a neck injury and was able to get back to participate in OTA's. This training camp he had hurt his hand in a fight with Kelechi Osemele that had him limited for several practices.
The team is hoping Edwards can be a big part of the defense this season after a promising rookie campaign in which he took over for Justin Tuck as the starting defensive end. The 2015 second round pick out of Florida State had 2.0 sacks 42 tackles in 10 starts.
