As expected, Raiders undrafted rookie running back Jalen Richard will not be playing in the team's exhibition match-up in Green Bay tonight. Richard was said to have a sore knee and according to Adam Caplan, Richard had arthroscopic surgery on the knee recently which figures to keep him out for the team's third preseason game at minimum.
The hope is Richard will be able to return for the team's preseason finale at home against the Seattle Seahawks on September 1.
The final preseason game is when the reserves play the most minutes. It also comes following the team's first cutdown from 90 to 75 players. However, the former tryout Richard's performance in training camp figures to have him not only surviving the first round of cuts, but still holding onto a good shot at making the regular season roster.
His primary competition for what figures to be the final running back spot is George Atkinson III, who had a great preseason opener, running 5 times for 97 yards and 2 touchdowns.
