Raiders preseason week three snap counts vs Titans: Dan Williams back in good graces

New, comments

As expected, the starters played the majority of the snaps in week three of the preseason. One particular player who returned to the starting lineup was Dan Williams. He had a great season starting at defensive tackle last season, but after showing up out of shape for training camp, had been a backup at nose tackle behind Justin Ellis.

Williams was named the defensive team captain for the Raiders. He then stepped onto the field with the first team defense alongside Ellis Saturday and finished the game having played 36 snaps (60%) which was more than Ellis's 28 snaps (47%), but less than six first team defenders including Khalil Mack, Bruce Irvin, and Malcolm Smith; all of whom played a surprising 77% of the defensive snaps.

Leading the way for offense was Austin Howard, who rotated in for Menelik Watson for a short time in the second quarter and then remained in the game for the second half. The rest of the first team offensive line remained intact to play the greater percentage of the snaps; playing through the first drive of the third quarter.

Johnny Holton got a long look from the Raiders, leading all non-offensive linemen with 38 snaps (54%). He also had a kick off return. He tied for the team lead with three catches for 54 yards and added a reverse that went for 14 yards.

A few players who saw only special teams snaps include Neiko Thorpe, Kyrie Wilson, James Cowser, Taiwan Jones, Jimmy Hall, Greg Townsend Jr, Drew Iddings, and Chris Hackett.
