We're just a week into Raiders training camp and Karl Joseph is sidelined. The team's top pick (14 overall) spent practice Thursday working with a trainer in the clubhouse, indicating that the issue is injury related.
Joseph had missed the entire offseason while recovering from an ACL injury he suffered last year while at West Virginia. The injury didn't deter the Raiders from making him their selection at 14 overall.
During the team's OTA's and minicamp in May and June, he was seen on the side doing light work and appeared as if he would return in time for camp. Not only was he on time for training camp, he participated with his fellow rookies and select players in the team's pre-camp warm-up.
I noted that on Wednesday, he spent some time on the side working on his footwork and doing some stretches. He had done the same thing on day one of training camp which was his first real practice back from the injury. If there are issues with the ACL, it's important that the Raiders not risk re-injury.
Others missing practice today include Leon Orr, Taiwan Jones, SaQwan Edwards, Colton Underwood, and Denico Autry (PUP). Clive Walford left practice before warm-ups and hasn't returned.
