Silver&BlackPride Yahoo Weekly Fan Picks - Week 1 Results

First I have to say how huge it is to have an automated system cataloging results. The largest impact is on participation. Lots of people that never or perhaps very rarely post here entered their predictions for week 1. I suspect this is the invisible masses that make websites like this profitable. We had 95 people sign up and 94 entered predictions.

Quite frankly, I'm thankful I never saw anything near this participation when tracking manually. I really hope everyone stays active with this fan friendlier format. This is really an annual contest and some weeks the results are bad and others they are great. Every seasons we did start with more participants than we finished by a significant margin.

Our 2014 Fan Champion was: Jstwin98 (164-92)

Our 2015 Fan Champion was: Demnes (161-95)

Our 2016 fan Champion - week 1 leader: Raider Braulio (14-2)

Basically, in order to break the current fan record held by Jstwin98 you need to average 9.8 correct a week over 17 weeks. That might sound easy as this week a group of 95 averaged 9.9, however, bye weeks work in after a few months and you are no longer picking 16 games a week.

The groups weekly results this week were awesome. Only 2 people were below 50% correct out of the 94 who picked. From manually doing this with smaller groups for two years, I can attest that is low. Only 14 of us were at 50% and a huge 83% of us were over 50%. We will have weeks worse than that as a group.
