Coming into the Raiders game against the Titans, defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr said the Raiders wanted to get a "good, strong look" at rookie sixth round pick Cory James at the middle linebacker spot. They definitely got that.
Not only did James start the game, he played all but three snaps the entire way. The three snaps he missed were in part due to getting shaken up on a run stuff. He limped off the field at that time, but returned a short time later to finish the game.
In so doing, he tied for the team lead with six solo tackles with Karl Joseph who was also getting his first start. Joseph missed a series in the game because he was cramping up due to the heavy humidity and heat during the he was replaced temporarily by Nate Allen and then returned for the remainder of the game.
