The Seahawks must have liked what they saw from Dewey McDonald during Thursday’s game because they just traded for him.
No word yet on what the Raiders are to receive in trade, but usually these trades are for no more than a conditional seventh round pick.
UPDATE: The trade was indeed for a conditional 2017 draft pick. Likely a round seven selection if conditions are met.
This could turn into quite a coup for the Raiders as McDonald had become a long shot to make the roster. Keith McGill had outplayed him at safety and Brynden Trawick outplayed him on special teams.
McDonald had impressed coaches early in the offseason, but that confidence began to fade as training camp went along and McDonald looked quite bad in the preseason.
For the Raiders to get anything, even a conditional pick, beats waiving him, even with the hopes of bringing him back on the practice squad.
