Neiko Thorpe cut by Raiders

The team has released the fourth year cornerback among their final roster cuts.

After placing a second round restricted free agent tender on cornerback Neiko Thorpe this offseason, the Raiders have placed him among the team's cuts today. A three-year NFL corner, he had spent the past two seasons with the Raiders following a season with the Chiefs and a stint in the CFL.

Last season, Thorpe was the team's third corner and even started two games. This year he was in a battle with second year corner, Dexter McDonald, for the team's fifth cornerback spot. He didn't stand out in camp as much as he had in previous season and had some good moments in the preseason, including a solid game on Thursday, but not enough to find his way back on the roster again.

According to Thorpe's agent, Audie Attar, his client had some interest in trade from a couple teams, which makes you wonder why nothing materialized. The 6-2, 185-pounder figures to have some decent interest as a free agent
