Missing the first practice of the week of the Raiders season opener was Austin Howard. He suffered a rolled ankle in the team's final preseason game last week that had him down on the field for some time. He then limped off the field under his own power and was taken to the locker room.
His uncertain status for the season opener meant the team needed to keep reserve swing tackle Matt McCants on the roster. Prior to the injury, McCants was on the roster bubble.
The Saints were without linebacker Dannell Ellerbe who has a quad injury. Here is the full Wednesday injury report for both teams:
