The first of College Football’s major All Star games is coming up this weekend with the 92nd annual East West Shrine Game. The Raiders have grabbed a few players out of the Shrine game in recent years. Most recently selecting linebacker Cory James out of Colorado in the sixth round and signing James Cowser as an undrafted free agent out of Southern Utah.
Prospects can do a lot to raise their stock by their performance in the East West Shrine game. It also helps that, unlike the Senior Bowl, underclassmen can play in the game.
Over 90 prospects from last year's Shrine Game were either drafted or signed as undrafted free agents, including four top-100 draft picks — offensive guard Joe Thuney (78th overall to the Patriots), defensive tackle Javon Hargrave (89th overall to the Steelers), offensive lineman Graham Glasgow (95th overall to the Lions) and safety Justin Simmons (98th overall to the Broncos).
