NFC Championship Game Open Thread: Packers vs. Falcons

New, comments

Two of the hottest quarterbacks in the NFL face off in the last game ever at the Georgia Dome.

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Greetings, Raider Nation! Today is Championship Sunday, the day where we determine who will go to the Super Bowl. We have two games on the slate today, and the first pits the Green Bay Packers against the Atlanta Falcons.

Atlanta is led by likely MVP Matt Ryan, All-World wide receiver Julio Jones and 1000-yard rusher Devonta Freeman. They had no trouble whatsoever rolling over the Seahawks last week and look to do the same to a much, much worse defense this week. Green Bay's pass defense is near the bottom of the league, so look for Ryan to come out chucking it all over the field like a certified member of the Rex Grossman "Fuck It I'm Going Deep" Club.

Sadly, after a long and storied history, this is the end of the line for the Georgia Dome. As the Falcons were awful for most of their existence, the greatest sports memory to take place in the Dome was Bill Goldberg capturing the WCW World Heavyweight Championship from "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan in 1998.

So farewell, Georgia Dome. May the Falcons today plant the Packers' rear ends firmly into your turf. May all of Aaron Rodgers' Hail Mary passes fall to the ground, failing to meet the standards of Mother Mary. And may the Falcons ride off champions as they move next door next season into Robotic Butthole Stadium.

This game can be seen on FOX at 12:05 PM Pacific and streamed on the FOX Sports Go app.
