NFL Head coaches select Kelechi Osemele, Khalil Mack All Pro via Sporting News ballot

New, comments

The Sporting News continues its awards today, naming two Raiders to their All Pro team — left guard Kelechi Osemele and pass rusher Khalil Mack.

Their selections were made by the league’s head coaches via a balloting process, giving their selections a degree of legitimacy.

SN said of Osemele:

The argument can be made that Osemele to the Raiders was the most impactful free-agent signing in 2016. He's a massive reason why Oakland finished in the top 10 as a team in rushing yards, rushing yards per attempt and rushing yards per game. NFL coaches recognized that impact and rewarded Osemele for his stellar season.

SN said of Mack:

Mack doesn't top any conventional defensive stat categories, but his peers place him above all other defenders in the NFL. SN's Defensive Player of the Year for 2016 hasn't missed a start through his first three seasons, dominant from Day 1. He also dominated the voting both for the player of the year award and his defensive end spot on the All-Pro team.
