Raiders Connor Cook will become the first ever quarterback to make first NFL start in playoffs

New, comments

Prior to the Raiders’ season finale in Denver, quarterback Connor Cook had never even been active on game day. Now he will become the first quarterback in the Super Bowl era to make his first NFL start in a playoff game.

Jack Del Rio told Houston media over conference call Wednesday morning that Cook will indeed be the team’s starter when the Raiders travel to Houston to open the playoffs in Saturday’s Wild Card game.

“We trust him to go out there and lead us,” Del Rio said during a conference call with Houston reporters via the Houston Chronicle.

Cook was the Raiders’ fourth round pick (100 overall) in this year’s draft out of Michigan State.
