That didn’t take long. NaVorro Bowman made his visit to Oakland today with one planned for Dallas. He never left for Dallas, signing a 1-year, $3 million deal with the Raiders according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Bowman was an All Pro four straight seasons from 2012-15. He suffered an Achilles tear four games into last season. He has 38 combined tackles (22 solo) this season.

With the injury to rookie middle linebacker Marquel Lee, the timing worked out well with Bowman’s release from the 49ers last week.

Not that the Raiders were in great shape even with Lee. The fifth rounder has just 16 combined tackles despite starting all five games. He was in a rotation with undrafted rookie Nicholas Morrow. Cory James started at the weakside linebacker spot.

Bowman is 29 years old. He has had two major knee injuries since 2014, so it remains to be seen if he can return to form. The Raiders are just hoping he can be an upgrade after they spent another offseason ignoring arguably the most important position on the defense.
