Thursday night football is coming again for the Raiders this week. Just like last year, it will be against Chiefs. Also just like last year will be the uniforms for both teams according to a Raiders official.
That’s silver numbers with thin black outline on all white for the Raiders and white numbers with thin yellow outline on all red for the Chiefs. Unlike last year, this game will be in Oakland.
The style for the Raiders uniforms is somewhat similar to that of their uniforms of the early ‘70s.
This is the first time since 2009 the Raiders wore white uniforms at home. And it was their throwbacks which were like their early ‘70s uniforms. That time the Raiders went with the throwback helmets as well, with silver inside the shield.
Prior to that, they had worn their white away uniforms at home for the infamous Lane Kiffin ‘F—k you’ final game as Raiders head coach back in 2008.

Prior to that season Al Davis purportedly asked Kiffin to resign, but Kiffin refused because wanted to get fired so he could still be paid. The fourth game of the season at home against the rival Chargers, in his petulance, Kiffin put the team in their white away uniforms. And as every Raiders fan should know, the Raiders ALWAYS wear black at home.
As if that wasn’t enough, he also let the final 30 seconds of the first half run out and trotted Sebastian Janikowski out to attempt a 76-yard field goal. Not even the Polish Cannon in his prime can hit a 76-yarder. But he was never supposed to hit it.
The Raiders had a bye week after that, so it was the ideal time to send lil Kiffin coattails packing. And his middle finger farewell to Al gave the legendary owner all the proof he needed to fire ‘Lance’ with cause and not pay him.
